Amazing *NEW * NO SURGERY TREATMENT FOR JOWLS

How to Treat Jowls Without Making Them Worse

One of the biggest mistakes people make when learning how to treat jowls is focusing only on the jowl itself.

After more than 25 years of analyzing faces, I can tell you the most dangerous part of jowls is often the treatment. Some treatments look like they are helping at first, but they can remove the wrong fat, weaken the wrong muscles, or age the lower face over time.

Youthful faces are not built by removing everything. They are built by preserving the right support while improving collagen, skin quality, and facial volume.

Quick Answer: What Is the Best Way to Treat Jowls?

The best way to treat jowls is to support the entire lower face, not just the jowl. Jowls usually come from a combination of collagen loss, skin laxity, facial volume shifts, muscle pull, and changes in bone or dental support. The safest approach is to protect the right fat, stimulate collagen, improve skin quality, and only remove excess volume when needed.

Why Jowls Happen

Jowls are not just extra skin. They happen when the support system of the face starts to change.

Common causes include:

  • Collagen and elastin loss

  • Facial fat shifting downward

  • Skin becoming thinner or looser

  • Downward pull from facial muscles

  • Loss of jaw, tooth, or bone support

  • Fluid retention along the lower face

This is why treating only the jowl can create unnatural results. The cheek, chin, jawline, neck, and mouth area all work together.

The Biggest Mistake: Removing Too Much Fat

Many popular jowl treatments focus on fat removal. This can include fat dissolving injections, aggressive RF microneedling, heat-based devices, or surgery.

These treatments can work in the right patient. But not all fat is bad fat.

There is a major difference between neck fat and facial support fat. If you remove the wrong fat, especially in the lower face, the result can look hollow, deflated, or older.

That is why I always tell patients: protect the structure first.

Can Botox Help Jowls?

Botox can help certain lower face concerns, but it is not a full jowl treatment.

If the corners of the mouth pull downward at rest, a small amount of neuromodulator in the DAO muscle can soften that pull. This can help with a downturned mouth and may make the lower face look more relaxed.

But if there is a true fold, loose skin, or heavier jowl, Botox alone will not lift it. Too much Botox can also weaken the muscle and reduce volume, which may create more dimpling or loose-looking skin around the mouth.

Conservative treatment is key.

What About Gua Sha, EMS, and Face Exercises?

At-home tools can help, but they need to be used correctly.

Gua sha can support lymphatic drainage, muscle release, and temporary sculpting. EMS may help muscle tone when used carefully. Face exercises can be useful if you are training the lifting muscles, not overworking the muscles that pull the mouth downward.

The goal is not to force the face. The goal is to support healthy movement, circulation, and collagen over time.

At-Home Skin Tightening for Jowls

At home, your goal should not be to melt fat. Your goal should be controlled collagen support.

Red light therapy, gentle massage, vibration, gua sha, and consistent skincare can all help support the look of firmer, healthier skin.

For lower face and jawline support, the PlasmaGLO LED Face + Jowl Mask is designed to target the full face, jawline, and neck area with LED light therapy.

The mouth area matters too. Your jawline sits on structure, including the teeth, gums, and bone. The PlasmaGLO LED Lip and Mouth Device can be a helpful addition for supporting the mouth and lower face area.

When In-Office Treatments Make Sense

In-office treatments may be needed when there is more advanced laxity, excess volume, or deeper collagen loss.

Options may include:

  • RF Microneedling

  • Laser or heat-based tightening

  • Fat reduction when appropriate

  • Filler for structural support

  • Biostimulators like Sculptra

  • Lower facelift or neck lift

The key is choosing the right treatment for the right layer of the face. Some people need volume removed. Some need volume restored. Some need collagen stimulation. Many need a combination.

My 3-Step Plan for Jowls

Step 1: Prime and Prevent

This is the most important step. Support the skin and structure before chasing the jowl.

Focus on SPF, red light therapy, retinoids, vitamin C, gua sha, collagen-supporting skincare, and dental health. Products like AHA Advanced Firming can help support smoother, firmer-looking skin.

Step 2: Use One At-Home Collagen Tool

Choose one at-home device and stay consistent. Do not overdo it. More is not better, especially in the lower face.

The goal is to stimulate collagen without creating unwanted facial fat loss.

Step 3: Treat Strategically In Office

If you need more correction, work with an experienced provider. The best results usually come from combining support, tightening, and skin quality treatments rather than aggressively treating only the jowl.

Final Thoughts

When it comes to how to treat jowls, the goal is not to remove everything. The goal is to preserve facial support while improving collagen, skin quality, and structure.

Support the face. Protect the right fat. Stimulate collagen consistently. Treat conservatively when needed.

That is how you improve the jawline without accidentally aging the lower face.
