Randomized, double-blind study of 54 women treated for 24 weeks. Conjugated estrogen produced significantly greater improvement in skin thickness and fine wrinkles than placebo. PMID: 7799828. PubMed

Silva LA, Carbonel AAF, Moraes ARB, et al. Collagen concentration on the facial skin of postmenopausal women after topical treatment with estradiol and genistein: a randomized double-blind controlled trial. Gynecological Endocrinology. 2017;33(11):845-848.
A randomized, double-blind study of 30 postmenopausal women found increases in facial type I and III collagen after topical treatment, with the estradiol group outperforming topical genistein. PMID: 28508697. PubMed
